EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
Here we present the journey we will undertake to bring the Symbioforest project to life.
01
Treatment and disinfection
-Place the soil in dishes and put them in the oven at 130 degrees, for 30-40 minutes, to be sterilized
-sterilize all material, especially the cuvettes, with bleach or detergent;
-record the average weight of Pinus pinaster and Quercus robur seeds.
02
Planting the seeds and their germination
-Then, we place the stratified seeds in the cuvette with a universal substrate, until their first growth. 80 Quercus robur seeds and another 80 Pinus pinaster seeds will be placed;
-Water the seeds whenever the surface soil (3cm) is dry;
-After this process (approximately 2 month), we measure the height of each plant and register its weight;
-We transplant the plants, in good conditions, into a sterilized cuvette (1 plant per cell)
- Use 10 plants for each group, and each well is filled with a single plant.
03
Experimental results
-Finally, evaluate the plant’s growth. Measure the length of the roots, and then measure the length of the stem.
-Remove the plants from the cell, one by one, and record their weight;
-Average the weight/length of plants per group;
-Record the results and analyze
